Art

Visual art is a way to express myself, create, and view the world around me. As a young child, I remember constantly doodling and drawing little scenes while sitting in church, filling sketchbook upon sketchbook with characters and worlds. I believe every child is inherently an artist, but as we grow older we tragically “lose the ability” to create. We start worrying about what others will think. We try to make technically good art instead of art we like. We collect preconceived notions about what art is. We try to make things that have deep meaning and find ourselves frustrated when we can’t convey what we feel. And so we stop creating.

Those who continue making art into adulthood are the ones who become a child again every time they sit down with a paintbrush or a pencil or a piece of plywood. I am constantly trying to rediscover childlike art, a state in which you create with no expectations, boundaries, or inhibitions.
